As I am sure is the case with every other sane man and woman on the earth, I hate dieting. Hate it with a passion. I used to be way fit and would workout 2 or 3 hours a day, eat super healthy food (I went 2 years without any soda, candy, or other junk food), and take really good care of my body. Over the past 5 years or so, though, I've been slipping further and further downhill and have gained a lot of weight. Well, I've had enough!
Back in April, my good friend Matt and I challenged ourselves to spend the entire month dieting. It actually went quite well and I managed to lose 12 lbs. Unfortunately, I started drinking Mountain Dew (my precious...) again and gained 6 of those pounds back. One thing that I did learn from that experience is that I do still have the willpower to forgo junk and eat healthful foods. I may not have the time to workout as much as I would like, but I can at least eat better and lose weight that way.
There are two things that have motivated me to finally get healthy and lose weight: 1) I promised Tomoe that I would get skinny for her birthday in September, and 2) I'm planning on going on a study abroad to France in the spring and there's no way I'm gonna go there as a fat-ass. I may not be able to get as skinny as I would like for Tomoe's birthday, but I should still be able to lose about 20 lbs. if I push myself. It'll be cutting it close as far as France goes, but if I can keep on pushing myself I should be able to get to the same weight I was when I first came to San Diego 6 years ago.
So wish me luck and if you're interested in joining me in dieting, drop me a line!
Good luck, and I'm interested. I've lost 22 pounds since the beginning of last summer, but I haven't lost anymore the past several months, and I still need to lose another 15 or 20. ("My precious" is right! Only for me it's Dr. Pepper, of course.) I need a motivator - maybe joining the challenge would help (though a trip to France would be even better).
