One of the first big sights I saw here in Paris was the Arc de Triomphe.
Now I've seen pictures of it before, and I knew it was big, but I wasn't prepared for just how BIG it really is. Pictures really don't do it justice.

I've been really impressed with how patriotic the French are. Everywhere you turn there are monuments honoring those who have died defending the country, and those celebrating French men and women who have made this country great.
The Arc de Triomphe is found at the center of the Charles de Gaulle etoile (star), which is basically a gigantic round-about of insanity. There are roughly a million lanes of traffic going around this thing with seemingly no guidance. It's crazy.
These four sets of statues were really amazing; my favorite being the third one.
Quite an amazing monument!
